Sen·tient

Definition of Sentient: able to perceive or feel things

Catskill Animal Sanctuary feeding the turkeys

All animals are sentient beings, they are mothers, mates, and babies.

They feel pain when you hurt them, they cry when they’re separated, cows have tears streaming down their cheeks on the killing floor… before you leave this page just take a few moments to open your mind and realize the inconvenience of eating healthier foods is NOTHING compared to the screams and suffering of innocent beings.

We can stop this by refusing to contribute to the violence in the meat/dairy industry.

Eating plant based foods has changed my emotional, physical, and spiritual health in such a positive way. Blood pressure has lowered, migraines have lessened, my anxiety has disappeared and my skin has never looked better!

I am sure you’ve had an eye roll or two, okay that is fair but I promise you I am the pickiest eater you’ll ever meet and have found SO many delicious meals, recipes and even junk food… all plant-based (or Vegan as I normally call it proudly!, but it seems that word scares some of you off… hiss* hiss*) but the best part of it is that I can lay my head down at night and know I have not contributed to any cruelty with my daily choices.

I’ve been a vegetarian since 2004 but never saw the harmful effects dairy and eggs had on the human body and even worse… the suffering animals themselves. Now, before you click off and tell me how the word Cage free is written on your eggs or how cows must be milked or they will die…keep an open mind okay? This is not about me, and it is not about you… it is about our world as we THOUGHT we knew it.

I’d like to consider myself in the past as a vegetarian since childhood since I was never a fan of meat as a child and must admit that more of it ended up under the table for my dog Yote and in the crumpled up napkins in the bathroom trash than in my mouth. ( Eek…sorry mom!) but in my adulthood, I was able to make a conscious decision to avoid any meat products.

This includes any animal flesh and eggs, but I was still consuming dairy with the thoughts that milk wasn’t killing any animals so what’s the big deal right? Wrong.

Please watch this very short film

There is significant suffering involved in the dairy industry…

1. Cows must give birth to produce milk.

2. Calves are stolen from their mothers.

3. Cows are impregnated (RAPED) over and over.

4. Male calves are often killed for veal. (There’s that KILL word)

5. Female calves are kept to continue the cycle. (They will begin at number 1)

6. “Spent” cows become hamburger meat.

7. Cows’ horns are burned or sawed off.

8. Cows’ hair is burned off with torches.

9. Calves’ tails are cut off

10. Cows suffer painful infections.

11. There is pus in the milk.

12. Dairy farming is destroying the environment.

13. Dairy farming wastes a lot of water.

14. The dairy industry exploits farm workers.

Look, no one wins in this situation, not you, not the animals, not the workers or our grieving planet… still think your cheese is worth it?

It isn’t about us, it is about so much more than us. There are souls crying for their babies, screaming from pain and infections, getting carried by cranes to be dropped onto a pile of their sick neighbors to prepare for slaughter, and all the while… wondering why humans are so cruel to them.. kick them, rape them, hurt them, violate them…punish them for merely existing on the same planet.

My heart aches to see these images, to read these facts, but I write in hopes and a heavy heart that some of you will consider a plant based lifestyle and end the suffering of innocent, sentient beings.

For more information I urge you to please visit the sites referenced below, the facts in this blog do not belong to me*

Try : Cashew milk, Oat milk, Almond milk, Soy milk, Pea milk, Rice milk, Coconut milk

Aim for plants. Fruits, Vegetables, Grains and check out my home page for some yummy recipes and meal ideas!

More to come!

Topics include: Vitamins, Protein myth, Soy does not give you breasts (if it did… it would be very popular ok!), muscle building vegans and how to dine out!

There are so many reasons why we all should live a vegan lifestyle, in other words, stop the violence and eat fruits and vegetables…

2,500 gallons of water are needed to produce 1 pound of beef.

1,000 gallons of water are required to produce 1 gallon of milk.

1/3 of the planet is desertified, with livestock as the leading driver.

80% of antibiotic sold in the US are for livestock.

70 billion farmed animals are reared annually worldwide. More than 6 million animals are killed for food every hour.

Join me in changing the world!

I occasionally share pictures of my favorite cruelty free products, recipes, thoughts, and poems too, thank you for stopping by!

    1. I wish I would’ve gone earlier too, I truly had no idea how the dairy industry worked and seeing my grandfathers farm in Poland where there was one cow, no machines, and she had first class treatment she was a family member must have given me the idea that hey! They all must be! How naive of me… so glad to meet another vegan trying to change the world with their words and their actions, 💙🌱

      1. There is no shame in having treated animals in the best of ways and expecting others to have done the same. I am only happy to see more and more vegans:D We must keep up with a good work 😀 Have a great day!
